Michael van der Veen also blasts the media for providing cover for the Democrats to lie and cheat

Michael van der Veen, a member of President Trump’s defense team during the sham impeachment trial, expressed his dismay at the Democrat impeachment managers doctoring evidence during the proceedings.

Speaking to CBS News on Saturday following Trump’s acquittal, van der Veen said it was “shocking” to discover that the Democrats doctored evidence to use against Trump.

“What happened at the Capitol on January 6 is absolutely horrific, but what happened at the Capitol during this trial was not too far away from that,” van der Veen began.

“The prosecutors in this case doctored evidence. They did not investigate this case and when they had to come to the court of the Senate to put their case on, because they hadn’t done any investigation, they doctored evidence.”

“It was absolutely shocking. When we discovered it and we were able to expose it, we put it out and I think it turned a lot of senators,” he continued. “The American people should not be putting up with this. They need to look at who these House managers were and look to see whether these are the folks they want representing them. It was shocking to me, wouldn’t have believed it.”

When CBS host Lana Zak began to cover for the House managers’ doctoring evidence, van der Veen excoriated her and the media at large for giving the Democrats a free pass on their crimes.

“Wait, wait. That’s not enough for you? It’s not ok to doctor a little bit of evidence, respectfully,” van der Veen said.

“I have not said it was okay,” Zak replied.

“The media has to start telling the right story in this country,” van der Veen said. “The media is trying to divide this country. You are bloodthirsty for ratings. And as such, you’re asking questions now that are already set up with a fact pattern.”

“I can’t believe you’d ask me a question indicating that it’s all right just to doctor a little bit of evidence,” he went on. “There’s more stuff that we uncovered that they doctored, to be frank with you. And perhaps that will come out one day.”

“Somebody should look at the conduct of these House managers. It’s unconscionable — aside from all the due process violations that my client had. And the media should be looking at that in a square, straight way.”

“Your coverage is so slanted, it’s gotta stop,” he said. “What I’m telling you is that they doctored evidence…And when they were caught, they didn’t say anything about it. They didn’t even try to come up with an excuse about it.”

“And the media shouldn’t be letting them get away with it either,” he added.
