But why stop at two masks? Why not three?
Dr. Anthony Fauci is now suggesting that wearing two masks instead of one is “more effective” against Covid-19.
Dr. Fauci claimed that wearing two masks “likely” makes a difference when asked by a NBC reporter if “double masking” works.
“So, if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective and that’s the reason why you see people either double masking or doing a version of an N95,” he said.
At least one reporter was spotted wearing two masks in the White House press pool on Monday.
Fauci’s recommendation could lead to businesses denying entry to customers who aren’t wearing two masks.
Of course, Fauci’s “double masking” advocacy could also trigger a nationwide anti-mask backlash due to increasing fatigue over mask requirements and existing skepticism over Fauci’s previous recommendations.
But it won’t be long until drivers alone in their cars are spotted wearing two masks while barreling down the highway.
