VP suggests “pathway to citizenship” the only solution to stem mass influx of illegal aliens.
Joe Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris flippantly claimed the U.S.-Mexico border is “secure,” after sycophant MSNBC host Chuck Todd noted illegal immigration was at a record-high.
In an appearance on “Meet the Press” Sunday, Harris insisted that she’s “confident” the border is secure despite record numbers of illegal aliens pouring in on a daily basis.
“We’ve had 2 million people cross this border for the first time ever. You’re confident this border is secure?” Todd asked her.
“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours in our administration,” Harris responded.
“But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years,” she said, adding that one of Biden’s main proposals is to provide a “pathway to citizenship.”
Under President Donald Trump’s term, illegal immigration was at a record-low, so it’s unclear what “deterioration” Harris is alluding to.
It’s also unclear how offering a “pathway to citizenship” to illegal aliens will deter illegal immigration, especially since Biden’s open-border policy has only resulted in illegal entry into the U.S. reaching all-time highs.
The obvious hypocrisy did not go unnoticed on social media by critics and Republican lawmakers and candidates.
“War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. The border is secure under Biden and Harris,” Texas Senator Ted Cruz quipped in reference to the dystopian novel 1984’s “doublespeak.”
As Todd noted, arrests at the southern border have hit a record high, with the Wall Street Journal projecting 2 million by the end of fiscal year 2022.
