One of the episodes is now 18 years old

In the wake of the Harry and Meghan debacle, South Park clips are being shared across social media, with particular interest surrounding several episodes that were previously labelled ‘transphobic‘.

Several commentators noted how surprising it is that one of the episodes is now 18 years old.

The infamous episode “Mr. Garrison’s Fancy New Vagina,” first aired on March 9, 2005. In short the plot is that Mr. Garrison gets an operation and becomes a woman; Kyle gets surgery to become tall and black so he can play basketball; Gerald decides he wants to be a dolphin.

The clip also mocks the depravity of those who treat abortion as an emotionless cosmetic procedure, with Garrison stating “I’ve got one growing inside me, now are you going to scramble its brains or just vacuum it out? If you want you can just scramble it, and I’ll q—- it out myself.”

The doctor says to ‘Mrs. Garrison’, “you’re physically unable to have an abortion because you can’t get pregnant,” later adding, “You can’t have periods either, you had a sex change Mr. Garrison, but you don’t have ovaries or a womb, you don’t produce eggs.”

Garrison responds “Don’t you tell me what I can and can’t do with my body! A woman has a right to choose,” later stating “But I paid $5,000 to be a woman, this would mean I’m not really a woman, I’m just a guy with a mutilated penis.”

Other clips including, Cartoon declaring himself transgender in 2014 and using the girls’ bathroom, as well as the trans athletes episode from 2019 are being re-shared.
